Hi there!

Welcome to Little Story Cottage!

Our family moved to Auckland, New Zealand from Sunny island of Singapore in 2020. We have grown to love New Zealand over the years, but I really missed the sound of spoken Mandarin and Chinese food!  So we decided to bring our  "little mandarin village" our family has always enjoyed since our kids were little to share with everyone here.

My foray into teaching started when I homeschool my three children 14 years ago, and later having the
privilege of teaching others in the community in Singapore. What attracted me to education is the
discovery of how all children learn in a variety of ways, and the spark in their eyes when they discover something exciting when they learn.  Our "little mandarin village" in Singapore took shape slowly over the years as we incorporate various Asian values and traditions into our learning journey.

From a bilingual society who spoke mainly English, I had to work extra hard to provide mandarin education for our children. As a result, I searched high and low for some of the best tried and tested curriculum all over Asia.
I believed that stories that have interesting storyline and good values are very effective in nurturing a wholistic child. Our classes are aimed at progressive learning, so children grow and learn through an interesting yet structured environment.

My older two children who are now in their teens, of whom, one has finished Singapore’s Primary School
Leaving Exams (PSLE), and have both passed their Chinese HSK International Certification with excellent results. A corporate rat in my past life, I hold a Communications degree, with a  major in Marketing and Public Relations from the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology university in Australia. As a child actor for the mandarin radio  station in Singapore under Singapore Broadcasting Corporation  (SBC) eons ago, I also dabbled in voice training and singing.  In my spare time,  I love interior styling, painting, listening to music, kayaking, swimming, playing badminton, cycling, reading and travelling.

I am so excited to welcoming your children to Little Story Cottage!

What Parents Say

雪雪老师 is our son's Mandarin teacher and is amazing. Her patience and personalised teaching approach has made a significant impact to our son's mandarin. Sharon's teaching methods have led to a huge improvement in our sons mandarin, and we love the positive learning environment she creates.
